Bisnis, JAKARTA — The IDX Composite (IHSG) reached an all-time high on Wednesday (8/14/2024) when it closed at 7,436.039 with a 1.08 percent daily gain, breaking the previous record of 7,433.315 in March 14, 2024.
"IDX Composite, over the week, gained 2.41 percent to 7,432.090 from 7,256.996 at the end of the previous week," IDX wrote in a press release (16/8/2024).
The bourse also recorded an increase in average daily transaction frequency over the week, rising by 3.53 percent from 981,000 transactions to 1.02 million transactions. The average daily trading volume also increased by 4.54 percent, from 16 billion shares to 16.73 billion shares.
The stock market's performance is driven by top gainers of the week, starting with MNC Digital Entertainment (MSIN), whose stock price rallied by 68.25 percent and closed at IDR 5,300 per share, up from IDR 3,150.
MNC announced its intentions to do a 1:5 stock split on Thursday (8/15/2024) for liquidity purposes, which will take effect starting October 7, 2024.
The second top gainer was the state-owned Wijaya Karya (WIKA), which rallied 59.43 percent to IDR 338 per share. The increase in WIKA's stock price coincided with its inclusion in Morgan Stanley Capital International’s (MSCI) Small Cap Index following the company’s evaluation released last week (8/12/2024).
Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia reported a significant inflow of foreign investments amounting to IDR 9.67 trillion in the third week of August 2024, a substantial increase from the previous week’s IDR 1.62 trillion.
"Based on transaction data from August 12–15, 2024, non-residents recorded a net purchase of IDR 9.67 trillion," Bank Indonesia wrote in a press release.
